Spotlight on a Murderer

Georges Franju, who directed Eyes Without a Face also directed Spotlight on a Murderer, 1961. Written by the same team that wrote Vertigo.

An old dying Count, dressed in his Knights of Malta costume, grabs his dolly and hides himself in a secret room in his massive castle estate. The heirs to his fortune show up, presuming him dead, and set out to find him, since they can’t get their money for 5 years unless his body is present.

Everyone starts going a little nutty at that point…but they do manage to execute a dramatic reenactment using only rays of light on the castle grounds, with predictable results.
