Portrait of Simonetta Vespucci

Simonetta, a most coveted beauty in 15th century Europe was married at 16, had a secret lover from the house of Medici, and died of tuberculosis at 22. She is immortal, thanks to Botticelli, who captured her grace exquisitely and loved her so much that he requested his burial at her feet at the Church of Ognissanti in Florence when he passed. This wish was granted 34 years later. Notice the tiny tie under her chin, which holds her complex, extra hair on tightly.
